Just 120 kms from Chandigarh, Chail is a beautiful, thickly forested hamlet a few hundred metres higher than Shimla. In fact, Chail owes its existence to the Maharaja of Patiala who wanted to build his palace on a hill from where he could look down at Shimla. Take in the picturesque surrounds as you unwind at the Camp, your journey into the wondrous Himalayas has begun. The Banjara Camp here is set in a little clearing at the top of a hill from where you have a clear view of the Shimla valley. Cosy Swiss – style tents with attached bathrooms provide all the creature comforts, and at night the view of the lights of Shimla is truly stunning. Chail is also famous for having the world’s highest cricket pitch and from one side of it you get a view of Choor Chandni, the highest peak in this region of the Himalayas.
