Syanachatti: It is a scenic spot along
the banks of River Yamuna that makes a lovely
sight enroute the trek upto Yamunotri.

morning drive 10 Kms upto to Jankichatti and
5 kms on foot for Yamunotri ( 3165 mts. Above

Yamunotri:
Yamunotri Temple is dedicated to Goddess
Yamuna, Yamunotir is the source of revered river
Yamuna which originates from the Champasar Glacier
lying 1 Kms. ahead of the shrine situated at
an elevation of 3235 mt above sea level. The
approach is extremely difficult and pilgrims
therefore offer pooja at the temple itself.
The temple was built by Maharani Gularia of
Jaipur in the 19th century. Yamunotri
was the home of an ancient sage Asit Muni.

Syanachatti

leave for Harsil. Overnight stay at Kemp Caravan,
Harsil.
Harsil: Located in the mountain district
of Uttarkashi is the sylvan hamlet of Harsil
(2620 Mts. above sea level), known for scenic
landscapes and delicious apples. Sat Tal or
seven lakes nearby (2Kms.) are a not to be missed
attraction. |

leave for Gangotri, Darshan pooja and day free
for leisure. Evening return back to Harsil.

Gangotri:
Gangotri Temple is 18th Century temple
dedicated to Goddess Ganga. It is located near
a sacred stone where King Bhagirath worshipped
Lord Shiva. Ganga is believed to have touched
earth at this spot. According to another legend,
Pandavas performed the great " Deva Yagna" here
to atone the death of their Kinsmen in the epic
battle of Mahabarata. The Temple is an exquisite
20 Ft. high structure made of white granite.
Gaumukh
(Optional) : The Gaumukh glacier 18 Kms
trek from Gangotri is the source of Bhagirathi
(Ganga) and is held in high esteem by devouts
who do not miss the opportunity to have a holy
dip in the bone chilling icy water. There is
lodging and other facility at Bhojbasa. 14 Kms
from Gangotri towards Gaumukh.

Harsil-Rudraprayag

leave for Rudraprayag. Overnight stay at Monal
Resort, Rudraprayag.
Rudraprayag: Named after Lord Shiva is
situated at the confluence of river Mandakini
originating from Kedarnath Dham and River Alaknanda
from Badrinath Dham- a beautiful sight to behold.
The confluence has a great religious significance
and thousands of pilgrims come here to take
a holy dip.

Gaurikund
: Is the last Bus station and the trekking
base to Kedarnath. A Temple dedicated to Gauri
and thermal springs of medicinal value are noteworthy.
Before proceeding people bathe in the Hot water
pond here and visit the Gauri devi Temple. This
is the place where Goddess Parvati meditated
to attain Lord Shiva.
Kedarnath Temple: The Present temple
built in 8th century A.D. by Adi
Guru Shankaracharya lies adjacent to the site
of an ancient temple built by Pandavas. The
temple has a Conical lingam - the main idol,
a statue of Nandi - the celestial bull, a '
Garba Grah' for worship and a mandap for assemblies
of pilgrims and visitors. The temple is more
than 1000 years old.
Behind the Kedarnath Temple lies the Samadhi
or final resting-place of Adi Guru Shankaracharya.
It is believed that after establishing the four
dhams in India he went for his samadhi at an
early age of 32 years.

Badrinath: Cradled in the twin Mountain
ranges of Nar and Narayan is the holiest of
the four main shrines - Badrinath along the
left back of River Alaknanda with the towering
Neelkantha Peak as the splendid backdrop. Once
the spot was carpeted with 'badris' or wild
berries and hence was famous as Badri Van.
Legend has it, when the Ganga was requested
to descend to earth to help suffering humanity,
the earth was unable to with stand the force
of it s descent. Therefore the migthy Ganga
was split into 12 holy channels. Alaknanda was
one of them that later became the abode of lord
Vishnu or Badrinath.
The
temple of Shri Badrinathji on the banks of the
Alaknanda River dates back to vedic times. Situated
at an altitude of 3,133 mts., the present temple
is believed to have been built by Adi Guru Shankaracharya
- an 8th Century Philosopher saint,
who also established a math here. Also known
as " Vishal Badri", Badrinath is one of the
Panch Badris. The temple has three parts - Garbha
Griha (the sanctum sanctorum), Darshan Mandap
(for Pujas) and Shobha Mandap) for devotees
to assemble)
